A Yorkshire Day walking tour of Roundhay Park

1 August @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

A special event for FoRP members – with geographer Rachael Unsworth, Leeds City Walking Tours

Roundhay Park has a long history. After changing hands many times over the centuries, it was bought in 1871 for the people of Leeds. The following year, there was a magnificent opening ceremony.

Learn about the history of the park, why it became available in 1871, how the council managed to buy it, and how the public park has been managed, used and adapted since businessman and civic figure John Barran acquired it for the people of Leeds.

The route will take you to contrasting parts of the park and explain many elements of its development as well as celebrating how the City Council and the Friends of Roundhay Park work together to keep it in good shape and welcoming to locals and visitors.

Tickets are available using the link sent to members via email.
