As part of Heritage Open Days, local historian Rachael Unsworth, will once again be leading a walk free of charge entitled “The Art of the Approach”.
This fascinating guided walk explores the route from the gate lodges on Wetherby Road to the Mansion, before circling back to your starting point, highlighting the design and heritage of this historic approach to Roundhay Park. See Roundhay Park through the eyes of a visitor to Thomas Nicholson’s early 19th century country residence by following the impressive and cleverly designed route from the gate lodges on Wetherby Road to his hilltop mansion. You’ll learn about the Park’s long and winding history as you go.
