Duck food banner stolen for the second time

Some time ago the Friends of Roundhay Park mounted large banners with the headline “Bread is Bad for Ducks” on both sides of Waterloo Lake.  About three months ago the banner on the Lakeside Cafe fence was stolen.  This was replaced with a new banner in late November.  This second banner has now also been stolen.
We can only assume that militants from the “Bread is Good” group started by a swan rescue charity on the river Thames are responsible.  The charity blames malnutrition in Thames swans only on the public no longer feeding the swans with bread, despite bread having very limited nutritional value and many alternatives (as listed on the Friends banner) being available.
Also in non flowing water such as Waterloo Lake uneaten bread forms large rafts of rotting bread attracting rats and being a health hazard to canoeists and rowers.
In your walks through the Park please look out for the stolen banners as the cost of the Friends replacing them diverts funds from more useful work in the Park.
