Twice every month, usually the 2nd Saturday and the 4th Thursday, a number of FoRP members get together to carry out various tasks in the park, to enhance its appearance, and improve the visitor experience.
Typical tasks include bulb planting, ground preparation and wild flower seed planting, clearing footpaths, cutting back overhanging branches, removing Himalayan Balsam, removing brambles, etc.
Everyone is welcome to join us and help, including well behaved children and well behaved dogs. We provide all necessary tools together with gloves and a Hi Vis vest.
We normally meet at 10am at the Carriage House (behind the Roundhay Fox pub) on Mansion Lane, where the tools are stored.
If you have any questions, want to know what work is planned, or confirm the meeting place, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
The Roundhay Runners are joining us again. I think we need a Balsham Bash, as it is well into flower and Helen and Oliver can’t tackle it on their own despite their best efforts. Chris, can you bring the patio trowels back for next Sat so we can get get all the soil out of the steps and try a bit of pointing now that all the grass has been removed.
There may still be a bit to do round the Upper Lake, and there is always some work that needs doing along the Serpentine Path and in the ravine.
Lots of varied tasks and something for everyone. I am sure the weather will be wonderful.
