Working to improve the path around Waterloo Lake
Twice every month, usually the 2nd Saturday and the 4th Thursday, a number of FoRP members get together to carry out various tasks in the park, to enhance its appearance, and improve the visitor experience.
Typical tasks include bulb planting, ground preparation and wild flower seed planting, clearing footpaths, cutting back overhanging branches, removing Himalayan Balsam, removing brambles, etc.
Everyone is welcome to join us and help, including well behaved children and well behaved dogs. We provide all necessary tools together with gloves and a Hi Vis vest.
We normally meet at 10am at the Carriage House (behind the Roundhay Fox pub) on Mansion Lane, where the tools are stored.
If you have any questions, want to know what work is planned, or confirm the meeting place, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
We are joined once again by Roundhay Runners this coming Saturday. This means we will have lots of people (hopefully). I would like to improve the Ram Wood entrance to the park from Park Lane. It is getting really muddy. We will remove the mud (carefully) and put own some crushed stone/gravel. There may be side teams working on the path by Sham Castle again, and a group going to the Serpentine Path to give emergency care to a fallen willow tree.
It will be really cold but at least dry, ideal workiing party weather.
